Dr. Ann V. Nunes received her B.S. in mathematics and taught high school math for a few years before turning to computer programming as a second career. Her poetry has appeared in several small venues, including Shirim: A Jewish Poetry Journal. Returning to school, while continuing to attend shiurim, she earned her Ph.D. in English literature with a dissertation on pre-biblical, biblical, and midrashic literature. Her most recent publication appears in Simile, the online journal of the Univeristy of Toronto Press. She currently teaches English literature part time at the University of Houston and occasionally offers developmental math courses for Houston Community College. In June 2006 she attended the bris of her first grandchild, born on the second day of Shavuot.
